Clarks Landing Salutes our Veteran Founder
Point Pleasant, New Jersey, November 11, 2021: On Veteran's Day and every day, Clarks Landing salutes Army Veteran Roderick A. Clark, Founder of Clarks Landing.
The Point Pleasant Historial Society tells the story of this remarkable, local businessman and Veteran who built Clarks Landing, Point Pleasant's very first amusement area, beginning with his purchase of the property in July of 1872. Clarks Landing became known throughout the state for its many attractions from crabbing, boating, fishing, picnics, fireworks, free movies, swimming, dances, and sailboat races. In the summer of 1920, over two thousand picnickers occupied the grounds. In the winter, ice sailing and skating became the main attraction.
Today, under the ownership and guidance of the Truesdale Family, the Clarks Landing Group thrives with a modern and lively marina with fishing and boating activities, a restaurant, several elegant wedding venues, and yacht sales facilities in New Jersey and Maryland.
